Complex litigation involved multiparty cases where case management issues arise, requiring extensive judicial management to expedite the case, keep costs down, and promote effective decision making by the court. They can also involve proceeding in multiple jurisdictions simultaneously. Complex litigation takes place most often in federal courts but can take place in state, territorial of Commonwealth courts. Do to these case management issues, a practice area has developed for complex litigation.
